Once in a while, I come across something that makes me think about life in its entirety. Rarely have I come across a novel that truly portrays humanity, and The House of the Spirits by Isabel Allende is one of these novels. When I say "clever", I mean that this book was very clever in the way that it hid the fact that it had no plot and a horribly biased author so well that I didn't even start hating it until about two thirds of the way through.
