Customer Reviews and Description Ms. Didion has written a beautiful and moving account of the year following the sudden death of her husband John Gregory Dunne. Her daughter Quintana also suffers a debilitating and life threatening illness during that year. This was a compulsively great read. Her insights are so true and her writing is like poetry. ONE OF THE BEST BOOKS OF THE YEAR.

Customer Reviews and Description So many people have written reviews of this novel that I will keep mine brief. I just want to say that it is one of the most emotionally wrenching novels I have ever read. This is not a light read so be prepared for possible tears! It is a powerful story of redemption with beautifully drawn characters. Even if you don't think the storyline would appeal to you, try it anyway.

Customer Reviews and Description Like many people, I listened to this book because of the extreme hype. I thought that with so many people reading it and so many weeks on the best-seller lists, it must be good. I was wrong.

Customer Reviews and Description Sue Grafton's newest mystery, S IS FOR SILENCE is one of her best stories. I've read every book, from A to S, a total of 19 mystery novels and have never been bored with any story in the series. Private Detective Kinsey Millhone has worn well over the past years and her stories are always enjoyable.

Customer Reviews and Description I've only partially read this book, and I could write a review praising it and then recommend my favorite book, but instead of misleading someone due to a false review and insulting anyone by thinking they couldn't tell the difference I'll just recommend my favorite book. It's call 'The Quest' and written by Giorgio Kostantinos, it's a great story. So if you have a couple minutes take a look and I know you won't be disappointed.

Customer Reviews and Description As a 15-year-old student reading this book for my language arts class, I was not sure of what to expect. I knew little to nothing about the Japanese culture, or their traditions. Even so, I enjoyed the book. The change from Sayuri's troubled childhood to majestic adult Geisha life was brilliantly written, always leaving the reader in an unsure suspense. Her hardships and tricky friendships demonstrated the hard life she was living masked by a layer of white makeup.

Customer Reviews and Description I finally got on the bandwagon and read this book, expecting great things. After two hundred pages, I began to wonder when the story would get underway. Things happen, or don't happen, we're not sure, and then switch tracks and other things happen, and so it goes. Certain characters are developed at great length in excruciating detail, and then vanish completely from the rest of the book or pop up briefly for an unnecessary walk-on. Other characters come along fairly late or lurk in the shadows until all of a sudden we're supposed ... Read MoreRead Reviews and Description
