Customer Reviews and Description What a great way to start the year! The first book I've read for 2006 is "Christ the Lord - Out of Egypt" by Anne Rice. Yes that's Anne Rice, the author of the Vampire Chronicles. In this book she turns her hand from horror novels to something entirely different - an historically credible, reasonably biblically faithful portrait of the child Jesus, written in the first person. The pace is slow, the prose fairly simple (as you would expect given that it is the thoughts of a seven year old boy) but ... Read MoreRead Reviews and Description

Customer Reviews and Description This was very well written. I would not consider this to be in the Horror genre by any means. If your looking for something scary try Salem's Lot. This had some suspense but no real gore. Oh--Did I mention it was Long?

Customer Reviews and Description How narcissistic of King to include himself as a character in his book. That is the height of egotism. Clearly in all of the "fan adoration" he has received over the years, he has confused his reader's interest in him with our interest in his stories that made him famous in the first place. He isn't the first successful author to fall into the lazy and self absorbed trap of writing about being a writer or the angst of writing (eg. Phillip Roth or Don Delillo) instead of doing what we pay him to do; research ... Read MoreRead Reviews and Description

Customer Reviews and Description Dark Tower 7 was by far the best book of the series. The "non-traditional" plotline was quite refreshing and the conclusion was surprising. I particularly enjoyed the characters of Blue Heaven (the overseers) and really felt for them in the end.

Customer Reviews and Description Wolves of the Calla, is a wonderful continuation to the DT series. In Wolves, Roland and his ka-tet are pressed into service by a small town in the ranching country of End World to help defend them against raiding hoards. Wolves is a change in direction from the first four DT books in that the characters have direct access to other worlds. It also gives the reader an idea of how sai King plans to finish the story. Roland and his ka-tet find several remnants of technology left behind by "the old ones" which still ... Read MoreRead Reviews and Description

Customer Reviews and Description Magiere is a dhampire, born of a human mother and a vampire father. Her birth involved the death of five different species including an elven and a dwarf because she was brought into being for a specific purpose known only to her father. He searches for an orb that will allow him not to need human blood but his dreams tell him that for his quest to be successful he needs a dhampire. At the moment, Magiere's father and a companion follow her and her lover into Lord Darmouth's province in the Warlands.

Customer Reviews and Description I rarely ever read because I get frustrated with how long it takes me to read something because I read at a very slow pace, and I will find myself reading the same sentence over and over again, but I finished this book in under a week. Once I started reading I was completely hooked into it and I only put it down when my vision began to get too blurry to read anymore. This series does a good job of bringing the Frankenstein story into our time and combining it with todays fears about how far is too far when it comes to cloning. ... Customer Reviews and Description We read this book aloud, which was a fun and fitting way to read this novel, a fictional account of Christ's life, which is intriguing due to the Biblical lack of information about Jesus's life between his birth and his 30s.
